About us

West Mendip Orchestra, founded as Winscombe Orchestra in 1974 with 10 players, has now grown to over 25 regular members. We currently perform three programmes a year at venues in Weston–super-Mare, Churchill and Yatton, and our concerts sometimes feature well-known local soloists. New players of appropriate standard are welcomed and supported; some may be experienced orchestral players, while for others this may be a new experience. We rehearse from 7:45pm to 9:30pm on Fridays at The Lynch Chapel in Winscombe.

For more details about the orchestra, please contact the secretary, Shirley Vickery-Mills, email:

Our normal rehearsal venue is:

The Lynch Chapel, The Lynch, Winscombe, North Somerset, BS25 1AR
